Garth Brooks Rocks the Staples Center!
When it comes to country music, there are only a select few artists that I really appreciate. Alan Jackson, Gorge Straight, and of course, Mr. Garth Brooks, all the greats. Lucky for me, last Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing Garth Brooks at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Now retired, the man behind hits such as “Friends in Low Places,” “The Thunder Rose,” and “Rodeo,” to name a few, put on five shows all for a good cause: The California wildfires.
It’s such an unfortunate tragedy that our state went through just a few months ago, but having Garth Brooks come out of retirement for us — what an honor!
During two hours of the adrenaline-pumped performance that he put on, the crowd went wild. I have been to lot of shows/concerts (well over 50), but this one was definitely the biggest I have ever experienced. I was at the 1 p.m. show and there wasn’t a quiet fan or an empty seat in the house.
Some of the highlights of the concert included Garth Brooks pointing out various people in the audience and bringing wife Trisha Yearwood out to sing two songs with him. But the ultimate moment was when he saw a woman in the audience with a sign asking for a pick, which he gave her…followed by the guitar he was playing! After the song was over he then signed that guitar for her.
It was amazing to see the audience’s reaction to the country great. I took my mom and we had an awesome time!

Double Rainbows on a Rainy Friday
Today as I was driving to work I saw a double rainbow. What was even more stunning to me is that I saw both ends of the more prominent one (which I never see because buildings usually get in the way).
Immediately I wanted to drive straight toward the rainbow, ditch work and find my pot of gold and the little leprechaun who is guarding it (c'mon what do you expect? I'm Irish!).
Did you know that rainbows have meanings in various cultures? Here are some mythological beliefs that I found on wikipedia:
-In Greek mythology, the rainbow is a path made by a messenger (Iris) between Heaven and Earth.
-In Chinese mythology, the rainbow was a slit in the sky sealed by the goddess Nuwa using five different colored stones.
-In Hindu mythology, the rainbow is the bow of Indra, the God of lightning and thunder.
My sighting this morning brought joy to my day so I hope this post does the same for you. Have a wonderful weekend!

Jessica Alba, Pamela Anderson: Paparazzi Nightmare
Celebrities have some sort of idea that they have to deal with paparazzi, however; things are a bit out of control.
It’s already difficult for anyone remotely famous to walk down the street (let alone do any normal activities such as shop or eat at a restaurant), but the latest exploitations of them are just astonishing.
While at the gym last night, I was disgusted to see (on a local Los Angeles news program) footage of paparazzi taking pictures of Jessica Alba and Pamela Anderson under their skirts. These were two separate incidents, both of which horrific because these actresses were said to be pregnant at the time of the snapshots (Anderson isn’t pregnant anymore, reportedly).
Now this is not a situation of a celebrity exiting a car, open-legged without undergarments on — think Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. These are women who are trying to stay low-key, not asking for attention.
Imagine you are walking down the street and you’re encompassed by a group of men sticking cameras between your legs. That would without a doubt be some sort of assault. In fact, I’m sure most of us would even take some legal action.
This is crossing the line. It is pornographic, and it has to stop.

Lily Allen's Sad Baby News
This news is a little late (I actually heard about it on Friday): Lily Allen suffers a miscarriage. Unfortunately, it is true, her and her boyfriend Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers have comfirmed the story's validity.
In a time where crazy things are happening to celebrities (mostly due to their poor choices) this is a story that is truly deserving of sympathy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the couple.
If you haven't purchased Lily's album "Alright, Still," it's definately worth checking out. She is one of the only female musicians I can really get into.

H&M for the Masses
Hands down, my favorite store is H&M. Not only are the clothes they sell incredibly cute, items are also reasonably priced. You can easily grab us a good amount of garments for less than $100. From casual to chic, celebrity-designed to basic wardrobe staples, this place has got it all!
Although H&M stores are continually sprouting up all over the world, I have to travel a bit to get to my nearest locations (which are in Irvine and Pasadena, CA — about a 45 minute drive to each). So when I get to shop, I get down to business.
If you haven’t experienced the splendor that is H&M, you are seriously missing out. To get an idea of the clothing that they have to offer, visit their Web site. And, while there, check out the “dressing room.” Using an animated model (proportioned to your measurements), you can try on various items.

Juicy or Fergie? Help Me Decide!
As far as purses go, I tend to spend my money on the cheaper ones, thus enabling me to buy more. However; I do have some taste and have been salivating over a Juicy Couture 'Velour Daydreamer' tote for awhile now.
It's time to go with quality over quantity!
Just as soon as I make my mind up to purchase it though, I become enamoured with 'The Dutchess' by Fergie.
Both are adorable. Bote are totes. Both cost $198.oo. But, both have their reasons for standing out.
So do I go with the Juicy purse that will match with everything, or the plaid one by Fergie that stands out?

Riviera Maya: Missing my Vacation
It has been a month since my Riviera Maya vacation, and I am definately longing for the white sand and teal waters of Caribbean Sea. A week filled with relazing moments and amazing sights, this Mexico trip was just what my parents and I needed.
Here is a run down of events that took place while we were in the Yucatan Penninsula:
- Jetboating through Cancun mangroves, followed by snorkeling in a reef
- Jetboating through Cancun mangroves, followed by snorkeling in a reef
- All incusive food and beverages (including alcoholic drinks!)
- Lounging under palapas at the gorgeous beach
-Feeding coatis
Sound like paradise? Yup, it was spectacular. I have never experienced anything so beautiful in my entire life. I highly recommend a trip to the region if you get the opportunity!

As of now, Riviera Maya isn't too well-known...this means that the landscape is natural and the area is still preserved. While most go to Cancun (30 miles north), this jungle-setting is far more exciting, in my opinion.

Happy New Year!
As a bargain shopper, I just wanted to share my wonderful holiday dress find. My black and white, knee length, halter from Forever 21 was quite a steal at $25. I bought it back in Novemeber and was able to wear it for my holiday work party, as well as the New Year's Eve celebration I attended. I can probably wear it for my friend Melissa's wedding rehersal dinner, too. (Melissa is also pictured above, wearing a $40 dress found at Macy's this past summer).
Why spend big bucks on something just to wear it a few times? If you're like me, you'll probably only put it on twice before u spill/tear/grow out of, or ruin it in some other tragic fashion!
If you aren't a savy shopper and need a little help, check out Diary of a Personal Shopper where you can learn more about stylish clothes and purchasing perfect pieces from a haute Southern California gal!
