Some of you may know me, and many of you may not, but I'm Lauren from OK Lauren and I'm super ridiculously happy to be with you today while Leeann is exploring Nashville. I hope she's taking full advantage of her trip because vacations are like a dream and no one wants to go back to reality - it's so much duller.
I just got back from a two week trip to Germany where I ate everything I came across like a little fatty. It was amazing and totally worth the five pounds I'm sure I picked up along the way.
One weekend, my husband and I went to Paris. Something I always dreamed of doing. We did a tour because how else do you even TRY to see that city in a mere two days??
I was kind of surprised because I didn't find people there to be rude at all. A lot of them were actually helpful and funny. I was taken aback by the smoking - I seriously couldn't get over it. I almost died, there was cigarette smoke coming at me from all directions.
On top of that it was a hot weekend. Think NYC in the heat. Kinda smelly, kinda sweaty, lots of people (okay, but still pretty).
But then, there was all that amazing cheese, and wine, and bread (okay and yes, snails). I kind of forgave the stink and sweat and smoke.
And then the lights at night. Oh, the lights.
And Paris on a Sunday morning outside Notre Dame? There's nothing like it. There really isn't.
I've never been one to believe in love at first sight anyway, it's more like lust. So, I think maybe Paris and I are friends, and I'd like to see where that takes us... I think Paris will always have a special place in my heart, for reasons I'm not going to discuss just yet (but, if you want to know, I will be blogging about Paris on my blog in a few weeks - I've just given you a sneak peak!).
these pictures make me so nostalgic for Paris...Ive have a lot of very similar shots. It really is one of the most amazing cities in the world.
ReplyDeleteI love Germany as well. This may be surprising, but did you have any cheesecake there? Their cheesecake is amazing
I adore Paris. I know it's cliche but I guess I feel like it's less so because I took the time to really learn French :-) Not sure that makes a difference lol.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there in late November and I am so excited! Thanks for sharing your account, looks like a blast!
Thanks for having me Leeann!!!
ReplyDeleteI DID have cheesecake while in Germany and it really is amazing :) I'm a cheesecake fan as it is, but the Germans take all my favorite foods to the next level.
I have a special place in my heart for France in general, and I think part of it is that I did take French in school. When you learn the language you have a sort of respect and admiration for a country and people that you sometimes don't otherwise!
WOW only 2 days! I would love to go...it's a dream I have =)
ReplyDeleteLucky girl! I want to go to Paris someday! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat shots - takes me back to my trip there this summer! Did you get to Laduree? :)
ReplyDeleteParis looks lovely. Thanks for showing us the pictures, I love seeing a city through a tourists eyes and not the brochure pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! So romantic! They make me want to visit again anytime soon! x

I love Paris and only got to spend two nights there, so I agree that the tours are the way to go! I want to go back and spend a week and really explore on my own. And yeah, the smoking is crazy! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI love Paris so much!! I've been there six times. Actually, one summer my husband and I stayed there for a month. We had plans to do all of France but we just... never left! :) I didn't think I would like it at all the first time I went, but I'm smitten!! I'm glad to see you didn't have bad experiences with the people being rude. I think they're pretty polite, actually. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower- I found you from Jessica over at You are My Color.

Fab pictures, they are making me want to hop across the channel to Paris. Love it there, it was honestly love at first sight for me too.
ReplyDeleteOh, this just makes me so homesick. I lived in Paris for 6 months and it was one of the most amazing times of my life. Hands down. Gertrude Stein said, "America is my country; Paris is my hometown." That's exactly how I feel :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! I love Paris. I was there for 4 days, which was most certainly not enough time!!!! I remember being exhausted and energized all at the time at the end of each day!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Paris and that's wonderful that you and your husband were able to take in the sights, if only for a little while. That's great that people were nice over there. It's something I always worry about. The shots of the Eiffel Tower are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this!
I LOVED Paris as well. I think it is impossible not to at least adore it :)
