And my Tennessee tale continues...
Tailgating! Woo hoo! I wanted so badly to get the real college football tailgating experience and I sure did. Saturday morning we headed to Knoxville to catch a University of Tennessee game with my friend Stephanie's boyfriend and his friends. On this day I got to fully understand the meaning of southern hospitality. These people were so genuinely nice and welcoming that I was in awe. Hugs, drinks, and food were immediately offered to me and I felt like I was a part of their group instantly. Although UT lost to LSU, it was awesome to see be there.
Sunday we woke up early to stop by a Waffle House (my first time!) so I could have some hash browns covered, smothered, and capped - which means they were made with onions, cheese, and mushrooms. Yum! And can I pause for a second to mention that all of the food in Tennessee is cheap? You can get a legitimate meal for well under $10. Amazing.
Because I was so sick, and managed to get poor Steph sick as well, we headed back to Nashville and lounged for the rest of the day. Originally we were going to go to Gatlinberg to see the Smokey Mountains and Dollywood, but we were so exhausted we skipped it and rested up for a tour that night.
I highly recommend the Nashville Ghost Tour to anyone in the area. It's held year-round and so much fun! It's a great way to learn about Nashville history, see cool places, and gather for scary stories. From the state capital building, to Printer's Alley, to the Ryman, we walked all over Downtown Nashville and had a blast! It was the perfect end to my Tennessee trip.
Love the Nashville Ghost Tour! It is awesome, and fun for everyone! :) Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I had taken the time to travel more when I was younger and less attached!! GO LEEANN!! I will live through you! =) Can you go to New Orleans or New York next??!!!
ReplyDeleteYou were able to squeeze so much in on your trip! I'm still sorry you weren't feeling well but I'm glad it didn't put too much of a damper on your trip.
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you were able to experience a college football game! I'm also a firm believer in Southern Hospitality. It definitely does exist.
The Ghost Tour sounds like a blast! I'm sure you also loved it for the history.
Looks like you had a great time, and your pictures are great!

Eeeeek, you look so cute as always! And just like the last one, this post makes me wanna go right back to the south. There's so much I miss about it, including the very cheap meals!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to have an authentic college football experience. :) The south loves their college football!
Hope you're finally feeling better! xoxoxo
I think it's high time I make my way down to Nashville! I've been to Jackson, TN and Paris, TN (on Kentucky Lake) and probably went to Nashville when I was wee but certainly don't remember. I only live 3 hours from Nashville now - MUST GO!
ReplyDeleteI admit, I've never been tailgating. Now I feel like I'm missing out!
ReplyDeleteThose hashbrowns sound SO good... and I'm all about the cheap food - thank God we have that in OK too :)
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up lady. Come to Florida, so you can eat at Village Inn. Sooooooo much better than Waffle House! : )

ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love Nashville! And yes, everyone is wayyy nicer in the south!
ReplyDeleteUT games are fun and so crazy, too! They have some wild fans there! Hope they sang Rocky Top really loud while you were watching. ;)
ReplyDeleteI heart downtown Nashville...especially printer's alley! I need to do the ghost tour there next time we go!!!
So, after reading your Nashville recaps, I think you know more about this city than I do...and I've lived here over 5 years! So glad you loved it! Also, UT is my alma mater, so I'm SUPER glad you got to experience game day...it really is amazing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I definitely have taken for granted the fact that I can get a "legit meal for $10!" =) I'll definitely keep that in mind the next time I complain about my lunch being too expensive!
