I ordered the vegetarian benedict and it was a big plate piled with eggs, potatoes, sliced tomatoes, salad and fruit. It was pretty good but nothing amazing. My mom and dad ordered a huge bowl of French onion soup and a large club sandwich to share. Unfortunately they weren't fans of the soup. It was too thick and reminded them of gravy.
For dessert we ordered that famous red velvet I mentioned. The cream cheese frosting is amazing! It makes the cake. The thick layers of the goodness were the perfect ending to our lunch.
Overall, I wasn't amazed with the experience but I probably would go back to give Doughboys a second shot.
YUM! Ok, your pictures clearly make this place look amazing. Sorry to hear it didn't live up to the hype.
ReplyDeleteThe cake. Oh the cake!
ReplyDeleteI heard of it...and I may stop by if I feel like it and give it a shot. However, I know the feeling. Some places get "amazing reviews" from people we see on TV, and then we think "wow, this has to be an awesome spot" but end up disappointed. I hear ya. Let's hope the second time around it's going to be a lot better!
ReplyDeletewow, that place sure does look yummy!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm always disappointed by overhyped bakeries (Georgetown Cupcake, etc), but that red velvet cake does look yummy.
