Last week I had the pleasure of seeing Coldplay live at the Hollywood Bowl. It was epic.
Let me start off by saying that the Hollywood Bowl is amazing. Settled in hills with the Hollywood Sign in view and the casual vibe, it's one of my favorite venues. However, it's a mess getting there. I live literally two blocks from it and it took nearly an hour to get there. Once we were in our seats, though, it was all good.
My mom is a big Coldplay fan so I took her to the concert. It's been a week and she's still talking about how great it was. In fact, yesterday one of my co-workers who attended one of the other LA shows told me it was the BEST concert he's ever been to. What made the show so amazing was a combination of things: the band is phenomenal live and they involve the crowd...a lot.
The show started with fireworks, followed by confetti, Zxylobands -lighted wristbands that the audience was given to wear (mine and my mom's didn't work, unfortunately), huge balloon/balls that were dropped all over the audience, projections that had to have been designed specifically for the Hollywood Bowl, an encore that took place partially in the middle of the seating so they were playing for those not sitting front and center, and then a firework ending.
It seemed like something major was happening for each song during their hour and a half show. But what impressed me almost more than all of that was the love that the band has for performing. I've never seen anyone smile or thank the audience as much as Chris Martin. Knowing that they enjoy themselves and are happy to perform for the audience is refreshing.
Although we had seats way in the back thanks to the ticket agencies that snatch up tickets before the public can, it was within my top five concerts of all time. If you have the opportunity to see Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto Tour this summer, or any of their performances ever, do it!
You lucky girl! I've always wanted to see Coldplay live, but I just haven't done it yet. Looks like it was amazing :)

They're good, but it seems like they're not trying new sounds and every song sounds like U2. I first heard Yellow when i received Coldplay tickets in my bth , Anyway, for me the whole Coldplay thing is too calculated. x
