Daughters of the American Revolution

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays - I have a degree in American Studies to prove it. Warm weather, pretty fireworks, and most importantly, a reason to celebrate this great country we live in (for all you Americans ;).

Recently I found out that one side of my family came to America in the early 1600s. That blows me away! Especially since I have a particular love for the Colonial Period. And to know that my ancestors were here well before the Revolutionary War and they make up the first colonists is pretty amazing. My goal is to join the Daughters of the American Revolution before the end of 2012. If anyone is a member and has any info, please let me know how I can go about joining!

Now, here's a little red, white, and blue love to celebrate the 4th!

    That's so exciting to be able to dig that deep into your family history. My peeps definitely were not here that long!

    Whenever I hear about the Daughters of the American Revolution I instantly think of Gilmore Girls :) That would be so cool to join. That cake looks so fun! Happy 4th of July!!
