I may have a problem people. I have a thing for guys who are younger than me. I think that makes me a puma. Granted, it only comes to celebrities. I love me some Kris Allen (American Idol Season 8 winner) who is 27 I'm seeing at a show Friday and Harry Styles (of One Direction) who just turned 19 last Friday...OK maybe non-celebrities, too. Like the guy that I randomly met last week who was 23. But his Boston accent could be a big part of the attraction. And the fact that he looked like a younger, more adorable Joey McIntyre. Hello, the cutest New Kid on the Block! And then the 27-year-old from the bar Saturday...
The puma realization and classification all started with this tweet to my blogging besties Claire, Tiffany, and Kathrin:
Then, Christina, also one of my most favorite people ever, joined the conversation. Since she has a thing for Zac Effron I figured she'd understand my love for the young ones. So then this happened:

Um, Kris Allen is SO CUTE! But since I'm 24, I guess it doesn't really help you much! I saw him a few years ago shortly after he won AI and he was just as cute in person. Got his autograph, woot woot! ;)
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better my ex -- only guy I've dated in the last six years (what's wrong with me??) is about 10 months younger than I am. Now it's not that big of a deal, but when we were in high school he was junior and I was a senior, so I definitely felt like a cradle robber!
Also, Harry is hot. He reminds of a young Adam Brody aka my ultimate all-time celebrity crush.

ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought I pioneered that term! In 2010, I was 29 years old, dating a 20 year old. When people called me a cougar, I said I was too young to be a cougar- more like a puma (although, technically, puma IS a cougar IS a mountain lion, etc).
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you, dating a younger man can be great for the self esteem and the stamina. But there comes a moment when they say something and you feel really, really ancient. Like asking you who the hell Led Zeppelin is while you're rocking out to "Cashmere".
not a fan of One Direction or Harry but I have a crush on Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) it's okay now but when he was 17 i was 22 so it was a little creepy lol

When you're as old as I am everyone is younger than you so there are a ton of good looking hollywood guys, but I would have to say my favorite is Zac Efron... plus he dated Vanessa Hudgens who is half Filipino which means he's into my people and I could possibly have a better chance with him. See... you have to think these through.

I'm a like the biggest cougar ever and I'm proud of it. I crush on the likes of Bieber and One Direction, along with many others who are much younger than me. It's a good thing I look a lot younger than I actually am.
ReplyDeleteDO NOT BE ASHAMED, seriously. I tend to like older men but I once had a boyfriend 7 years younger than me and I had the time of my life. It helped that I knew he was no where ready to commit to a serious relationship. We had fun for a few years and that's okay. It's years later and he's still not settled down, go figure. I say go for it! I have tons of cougar crushes, like Ryan Gosling and Ed Westwick (from Gossip Girl.)
