Last week was a fun one! On Tuesday my friend and I decided to take a road trip to a tiny town in the mountains east of San Diego. After my
New England trip, I've been trying to recreate a fraction of fall here in Southern California so when I heard of
Julian I was all about it. A former mining town, it's now known for it's apple orchards. With about 1,500 residents, it's the place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
We made the drive up to Julian early enough to walk the main street, eat breakfast, taste apple cider, pick up some sweet treats, and get the most delicious apple pie from
Julian Pie Company. I don't like pie, specifically the crust. Occasionally I'll eat the pumpkin off pumpkin pies, but otherwise I won't touch a pie. I decided when in
apple town Rome, and purchased a caramel apple pie reluctantly, and even more reluctantly when I learned it was about $18. But, when I got home and tried it I surprisingly loved it! The crust was more of a caramel crumble and was absolutely delicious! Blogger fail since I didn't photograph it. I also picked up a maple apple donut that was hands down
the best donut of my life. If you are randomly near Julian for any reason, or live in SoCal and looking for a day trip, you must go to the Julian...if only for the Pie Company. I want to go back right this second, but it's over a two-hour drive.
On the way home we decided to play $20 at a casino (that lasted a whole five minutes) then head to Temecula for a glass of vino and Maurice Car'rie winery's famous brie bread. I'm just going to let the photo speak for the bread. And it's just as good as it looks!
My fun continued Saturday with college football. I went to my first USC game thanks to a friend who got tickets through her work. Since her company is a sponsor of the football team we got to tailgate in style with an open bar, catered lunch, and some swag. It was the perfect way to enjoy my first Trojan game!
What did you do this weekend? I hope whatever it was, you enjoyed it. And here's to a great week ahead!

I loved your trip recap! You are making me want to fly up there for a weekend!
That bread looks divine!!! I never get to have cheese things (well, shareable items anyways) because my husband... you might want to sit down for this... doesn't. like. cheese.
I'd like to say that I didn't know that until after we were wed but, I made knowingly made the sacrifice. 8 years later and I'm wearing him down ever so slightly. Hopefully one our 50th wedding anniversary we can share a brie bread that looks half that good! ;)
Such a fabulous weekend filled with fun! Yay for apple orchards and pie but wow at the $18 price! Cheers to a great week gurlie <3
