How is it that I am 33 years old and have never seen The Nutcracker? In fact, up until last night I knew nothing about it! Since neither my mom or I had ever been, we decided to make a day of it and get dressed up, go out to eat, then enjoy the show.
We headed to Newport Coast (a section of Newport Beach that's just off the ocean, but near a bay and populated with high-end shopping and gorgeous homes) to enjoy a nice meal at Oak Grill. Legit the best french fries I've ever had! The entire meal was amazing and we sat on the patio to take in the lush landscape. The tress are covered with faux candles so I want to go back for a sunset meal because it's sure to be gorgeous. Prices were pretty reasonable. My ahi sandwich was $19 and my mom got a burger and fries for $15. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. Tip: this restaurant is located inside Island Hotel, across the street from Neiman's at South Coast Plaza. Park on the street and walk in through the patio to skip valet.
Next we were off to Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Coast Mesa for The Nutcracker. It was wonderful! The actors and dancers were fantastic. And I had no idea so much popular music I've heard my whole life came from this ballet. It was really magical to experience. And The Snowflake Dance? Dead. I want to be a snowflake! Well, to wear the costume. I know I can't dance like that ha.
Of course no photography of the show was allowed, but there were some good photo ops in the halls.
Have you ever been to The Nutcracker? If so, what did you think?
So glad you got to see the nutcracker. I used to dance around my house when I was little and pretend I was in the show. I guess maybe because I watched it a few times with my Grandmom it kind of stuck with me all these years. Those fries sure do look great! Beautifully Candid
